a simple soap dish

a simple soap dish perhaps
but it speaks the truth
and it was d's favourite christmas present!

I take up the pledge:
I will be true and brave each day
or at least I will try to be...

Look what I found!

Look what I found
in my Booja-Boojas:

it made me smile
and I totally know what they mean!

It IS my birthday...

Chocolates? For breakfast?Well... emmmm... yes...It IS my birthday after all...

"Happy Birthday to meHappy Birthday to meHappy Birthday, dear loveliness...Happy Birthday to me!"

and oh my goodness!  Booja-Booja, I am in blissful heaven...  they are the most divine chocolates I have ever had the pleasure of eating... (and also the most expensive!)... what a birthday treat!

ps... this is not a sponsored post:
the chocolates were bought for a christmas present but never gifted... sorry, intended recipient... but I can tell you, they are fabulous...

sometimes a song,
a voice,
stops you in your tracks,
inspiring you,
stirring your soul -
your entire being -
moving you to tears
and beyond.

As I sat in my car, moments before meeting a friend, I heard a song on Radio 2 and I stopped and listened and my heart opened in such a truly magnificent way that tears sprung forth.  A lullaby from Jackie Oates' up and coming album Lullabies due out in March.  I cannot wait to hear more of her work and until Lullabies is released, I'll satisfy my curiosity with Saturnine.  If you'd like to listen to some sound clips from Lullabies, follow this link and please take a look at this wee video of Jackie - you'll be sure to fall in love with her.

8 years on

8 Years on
and we are in a place
we never imagined,
living the life unexpected.
Loving each other
gives us and
our family
the strongest of foundations.
We have grown together:
our roots are strong
but we still bow
to the winds of the earth
as seasons pass,
blossoms and leaves
and branches wanting.

"Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your root was so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is.

Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being in love, which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Those that truly love have roots that grow towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms have fallen from their branches, they find that they are one tree and not two."

It's a new year

May the coming year
Be all you wish for:
Be present,
Enjoy every moment
Let it be enough

"The sun is out,
I rush to the window
Suddenly I just want to let go
Of the past and start all over again

So I say come on,
Open your eyes,
And see what's outside,
There's nothing to fear,
It's a new year

Snow is falling
Beautiful and white,
Nothing but
Blue skies and green lights,
Doors are open
But nothing's in the way

Let's make a list

Of things we wanna do,
No breaks allowed
Don't look down
Just jump,
Let's fly away

And we sing,
Come on,
Open your eyes and
See what's outside
There's nothing to fear,
It's a new year
It's a new year "
